In Search of a City (in the Papers of Sein)
A journey through Cairo, led by the voice of a contemporary 'flâneuse' Sein. Her journey leads through the age-old streets, through colonial districts modeled on Paris to new apartments in international style. Inspired by the relationship and history between local and foreigner and using voices from the past and present, the film shows how the city is repeatedly reborn to become the megalopolis it is today.

Directed by Hala Elkoussy, 2012, Egypt, 21 min., drama, Arabic.

Oranges
Two neighbors, a garden and no words exchanged. What happens when interests clash, and lines are crossed?

Directed by Maha Haj, 2009, Israel, 6 min.

These short films are only available free with purchase of an Pew Fellows X Penn Live Arts feature film. Viewing window will be October 28 at 7 PM through November 3. Access information will be provided in advance. You can also visit our FAQs page for additional details.
