Join the Center for Africana Studies for a special series of masterclasses with composer, pianist and jazz legend Ramsey Lewis, led by Penn music professor, pianist and composer Guthrie Ramsey, Jr.

Ramsey Lewis will discuss the wide range of his aesthetic palette that has, through the years, crossed multiple genres of classical, jazz, and popular music.

With the assistance of a contemporary jazz ensemble, Ramsey Lewis will discuss his role as a composer in jazz. He will perform sketches from an upcoming recording project of solo piano work.
