Join us before the King Lear performance on September 25 for a discussion led by Jim Schlatter, Senior Lecturer, Theatre Arts Program. Dr. Schlatter’s talk will focus on the modern history of King Lear productions. He will discuss how specific productions have aspired – not only to make Lear “relevant” to today’s audiences but equally importantly – to engage Shakespeare (as the title of Jan Kott’s seminal book of essays on the playwright’s work announces) as truly “our contemporary.”
