Step Afrika!
The rhythmic dance company performs the Philadelphia premiere of
their full-length work, The Migration. The piece is based on Jacob Lawrence’s
painting series that charts the story of African-Americans moving from the
south in the early 1900s. Step Afrika! was founded in 1994 as the first
professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. It now ranks as
one of the top 10 African-American dance companies in the country. | Nov.
