A Life in the Theatre – A Conversation with Hal Prince

December 9, 2009

The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts was pleased to host “A Life in the Theatre – A Conversation with Hal Prince” last month. Legendary Broadway director and producer, Hal Prince (C’48), delighted students with anecdotes about his rich history in the theatre including his direction of such seminal works as Cabaret, Sweeney Todd and Parade. Setting the stage for this conversation with Rose Malague, Director of the Theatre Arts Program, in the Harold Prince Theatre was an introduction by Dean Rebecca Bushnell. After the interview which included his thoughts about the future of musical theatre, there was a time for questions from members of the Penn Players board and other students. The University Life Arts Initiatives and SAS sponsored a reception on stage of the Zellerbach Theatre following which provided additional opportunities for students to interact with this renowned Penn Alum.
